Intensive Motor Training Program

It is an intensive motor training program designed for children who have challenges in regulating their movements or exhibit impulsivity. The program helps the child become more aware of their body in the present moment and increases their awareness of their surroundings. This improves concentration, enhances the ability to control movements, and reduces impulsive and hasty behaviors that may cause problems or negative effects at school or within the social environment.

Program Objectives:

1. Reducing impulsivity and hyperactivity:

Helps the child gain better control over their behaviors and become calmer and more focused.

2. Improving visual–motor coordination.

3. Enhancing balance:

Helps the child improve balance and gain better control over movements.

4. Strengthening auditory and visual attention:

Helps the child become more focused on surrounding auditory and visual stimuli.

5. Developing joint attention skills:

The program teaches the child how to focus on more than one task at the same time.

Program Activities:

  • Motor activities (obstacle courses).
  • Balance activities.
  • Joint attention activities.
  • Auditory attention activities.

How Does the Child Benefit from the Program?

Improved motor control: The child will be able to better control movements and remain calmer.

Enhanced attention and focus: The child learns to focus on more than one task at the same time.

Improved balance: The child achieves better balance during movement.

Development of social skills: The child learns to cooperate with other children during activities.

Age Group:

Children aged 8 to 11 years who exhibit:

Hyperactivity

Difficulty maintaining attention for appropriate periods.

Noticeable distractibility during tasks or activities.

Impulsive behaviors, including difficulty delaying responses or waiting for turns, making hasty decisions without prior thinking, and unconsidered actions that may affect daily task performance or social relationships.

Program Schedule and Duration:

Program duration: 4 weeks, two days per week (Monday – Tuesday), two hours per day, from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM.

Program Provider:

Occupational Therapy Department.
